Principal's Message
Dear SSMS Students, Families, and Friends,
It is with great excitement I get to return to South Stanly Middle School as your principal! I apologize that I have not pushed this out before, but my transition to SSMS was relatively quick!
A little about me... I have lived in Stanly County my entire life. I attended Central Elementary, Albemarle Middle School, and graduated from Albemarle High School. My family is made up of several educators who tried their best to sway me away from going into education, but obviously, that did not work! So, after high school, I started my journey into becoming an educator. My teaching career began in the fall of 2004 as a 4th-grade teacher at Oakboro Elementary. I was at Oakboro until it was shuttered in 2016 and then transitioned to East Albemarle Elementary as their Curriculum Coach in the Fall of 2016. I spent three years at East and then ventured into educational leadership. I was accepted to the PPEERS program through UNCG and received my Master's in School Administration in May 2020. Upon graduation, I spent a year at SSMS as the assistant principal and then served as the assistant principal at Central Elementary for a year and a half.
I have been married to my husband, Nic, for 19 years, and we live in New London, NC. We have two children, Nate, who is 17 and will graduate from Gray Stone in May, and Kathryn, who is 13 and is an 8th grader at NSMS. When we are not working, these two keep us extremely busy!
I am honored to have the opportunity to serve our students, families, and our SSMS community. I hope each of you will see how much I truly love my career and enjoy working alongside our teachers to grow and nurture our SSMS students into the best version of themselves possible!
If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know. It takes a village to raise our children, and communicating with our families is extremely important.
